Dear Teachers, Librarians, and Administrators:
I'd love to visit your school to talk about writing and reading and how it's so much cooler than TV and video games. I'm a certified English Language Arts and Reading teacher, and I always enjoy leading writing workshops and book discussions with young people.
My speaking/workshop honorarium is $100 per one hour session, or $500 for all day (five to eight hours) plus any travel (gas, if I'm driving; plane tickets if I'm not), meals, or hotel expenses involved. If possible I like to schedule school visits at least four weeks in advance. This gives me time to discuss your needs and tailor my presentations for your particular groups, and gives you time to make any necessary travel arrangements. If it's less than 150 miles from my home north of Dallas, TX, I can usually drive (if you'll pay for my gas); if it's farther, flying is the preferred option--with a possible car rental, depending on the location.
